Tree Forts!

Last year, towards the end of fall the kids discovered a climbing tree. After some hazardous climbs (see the wagon used as a ladder??) Rob added some steps and told them he'd build them a tree house when it warmed up again.

As SOON as school got out, M started asking about the tree fort. We had some other projects this summer, and it's amazing how FAST the summer goes by. So, while the kids were with their dad last weekend, Rob got to work building them a fort.

Personally, I think he wants one for himself so he can run away and escape us all! :D

We didn't tell them about the fort when I picked them up, we waited for them to find it. It took a little while. M went out and sat on the swing and swung for a bit. Then he stopped. And stared. For awhile! We hid. And chuckled. He came RUNNING to us and asking if it was ok to go up there. Then he just sat in it for a bit.

Finally he went and told his sister, and she came and played too. The fort is a HUGE hit with the neighbor kids, I think they all sat in it ALL day on Monday. We're hoping to do some additions and other levels - we'll see how it goes.

What a cool project. I like that you do such fun things for the kids when they are gone, lets them know you're always thinking of them. Fun!
